Nikki and I were checking out out the Portland downtown, and strolled down an old cobblestone alley. Down there, we found the Gritty McDuff's Brew Pub, who had some tasty-looking Mac and Cheese on their menu.

We grabbed a seat outside, and ordered their Pub Mac, with some added shrimp (for mine) and lobster (for Nikki's.) The dish used penne noodles (not macaroni), was topped with shaved parmesan and asiago cheeses, and employed a parmesan, cheddar, and jack cheese sauce. The dish also had some fried jalapeños and some cornbread. The sauce was a fantastic consistency, but felt it could have used a wee bit more cheddar versus the parmesan. The cornbread was solid, but to be honest, I don't think the dish really needed the jalapeños. Still, it was an overall pleasant dish, and I really liked our seafood additions.

So yeah, if you're in the Portland downtown, honestly, there are a lot of great looking restaurants. But if you're already grabbing some Gritty's, hey, their Mac and Cheese is not bad! (Their beers were also phenominal, and I also really liked their fried pickles.)
